Another fantastic week here at Eden’s Lakes with some extremely tough, changing weather! The week began very unsettled with rain and gale force winds, before the sun finally made an appearance towards the back end of the week. The strong winds remained with a chill and at night temperatures dropped to around -2degrees.
With the warmish days and the cold nights the fish were confused, and so were we to be honest. Although the fish were showing they did not really take much of an interest in feeding with only a few fish getting caught across all 3 lakes.
We had a number of new and old faces this week across all lakes and I must say they were all in good spirits despite the grim conditions and the moody carp. A number of personal bests were smashed on several occasions, a reason why many anglers visit Eden’s Lakes.
On the North Lake we had 4 outstanding guys from Danglers Nation. Dave, Geoff, James and Jordan experienced tough going but started well with a 42.12lb mirror before the rods went silent for a few days. Eventually the next fish came along, but things soon changed towards the end of the week with 48 hours to go, the weather finally settled down and the fish started moving around and began ripping the lake bed apart looking for feed and a few cracking fish started to get caught.
And then it happened, what we’ve all been waiting for Eden’s Lake’s first 60LB fish on the bank and that fell to Jordan at 60.04lb and was our mighty split-tail and I must say he was on fire from there on in 24 hrs banking a further 5 fish.
We had the Moore family on Jolly pads lake this year after they smashed Simon’s lake last year on one of our special tutorial weeks with Adam Penning and they had a steady week with 37 fish and the children Bex and Dean were awesome, catching some great fish as well as Dad Mike and Mum Colette.
On Simon’s we had Eden’s regular Mark returning once again with son Joe along with Jamie and Greg for 5 days. Although conditions were not ideal they all smashed personal bests.
Below is a list of all last week’s catches, pretty impressive when you consider the conditions:
